When my friend asked me to help her decorate her new apt, we based our color scheme around turquoise dinner plates, white with black salad dishes and red bowls.

On our second day of shopping, she mentioned that her mom brought her back this red cushion-y seat thing from her trip to Morocco. Moderately paying attention, I was a little worried this “thing” would not go with my design plan.

Little did she know, or did I imagine at the time, that she scored, big time.

I realized what she was talking about when we were at some store and pointed one out. Moroccan Pouf, I should’ve known better.

She casually said, “Oh, this is like the one my mom brought me.”

Guurrrl, these are like 400 hundred dollars. Haven’t you been reading my blog? I used one in this nursery.

Point is, her mom has an eye for design and she can thank her mom she has extra seating and an awesome red pouf that makes her new place look even awesomer. Here Dee, these pictures are for you.

Bargain Bin: Take Four

My choices for this weeks bargain bin consist of items for the home. Enjoy!

Bargain Bin:Take Four

– Every home needs a fabulous mirror and this one from Burke Decor has an amazing shape. The black color will pop against any boring ole wall. Purchase it here for $72.50.

– I love quirky items, doormat from here is just that. Guests will know you have great humor and it’s only $25.00.

These pendants from West Elm are on sale for $79.99 each. I would buy the set of three for $219.99 and create a layered look over a dining room table.

– Also love a good area rug with a great pattern. Available for $110.00 through The Well Appointed House.

– These sleek and chic Galvanized Planters are a steal for only $5.95 for the small and $24.95 for the large. Just right for a cute little patio or porch.

Rug Love

Ah, I love a good area rug. A great pattern allows for a bold statement even if the rest of your decor remains subdued.

Check out the ones I have my eye on.,0,2000,2000&scl=5.434782608695652&fmt=jpeg&id=14IHfolLhKJGvsvAfwQN2F

I love this greenish/yellow one from Ballard Designs. Large print without being too hectic.

I can’t help but think this poem rug is a little romantic.$P_Main$&$src=21569_1

This Lilly Pulitzer Wool Rug will add a beachy, cool, refreshing, fabulous color scheme to the right floor.

A cool zig zag rug can convert a traditional space into something more contemporary. The red trim makes this one a tad more fun. You can purchase this one here.$redesign-appcat$

Ooh, ahh. This one from Anthropologie has all kinds of crazy good patterns going on.$share$

How great would this hopscotch rug from CB2 look in a kid’s room or playroom?

I picked up this faux zebra rug from Cost Plus a few years ago. It’s one of the first things people see when they walk into our house since this office is adjacent to the entry. This room would definitely be more blah without it. And I love that Evan’s 90-year-old grandma comments on it every time our house comes up for discussion. She’s adorable.

Why hello you absolutely-beautifully-cute-little-signage that I need to order ASAP. You’re so cute and perfect and I can’t wait to meet you in person.

Thank the Lord I stopped to visit Decor8 otherwise I may have passed up the work of William Doham.

I think this would fit perfectly in my entry. I won’t have to greet my guests ever again. A slight look to the left and my wall will say it for me. Kidding, kidding. No, but seriously, this thing makes me wanna jump for joy. I’ve been having decorator’s block and haven’t been able to decide what the heck to hang in my entry. I want something that exhibits personality and… ding, ding, ding I think I hit the jackpot.

William Doham has other  words of expression just in case hello isn’t what you’re looking for, so check out his stuff here.

And here’s another super cute find from Home Decorators Collection. Hoo would’ve thought they’d actually have some cute things.

Or what about this adorable heart rug from Pier One. Someone has to have a little girl out there. Buy this for her, please.

Get Your Gretel

I spotted the above cake stand in my latest issue of bon appetit and decided I needed to scope out what else Gretel had to offer. Turns out Gretel, founded in 2009, is full of fun, modern home accessories in an easy-to-navigate  stylish website. I’m featuring my favorites but I highly encourage you to check out the rest here.

These coasters remind me of little doilies. Beyond cute.

I’m really loving the muted tones of this beautiful throw.

Oh look, it’s a coat rack.

This container would make a lovely jewelry box.
