Drew for Me and Drew for You

[Drew+Barrymore.jpg]

I had the biggest crush girl on Drew Barrymore from about the ages of 16 to 18. I thought she was the coolest thing around and admired the way she was equally parts sexy and cute. Her troubled past (rehab at 13) made her intriguing and she was the only source of inspiration behind my two tattoos. I partially regret my decision to ink my toe and lower right hip, but at the time I thought of myself as badass as Drew. Her down-to-earth persona, humble ways and carefree stile made her my icon. I stopped crushing as hard when I became annoyed by her acting, but always thought she’s aged accordingly. She’s been popping up on the red carpet and doing interviews for her upcoming film, Going the Distance, and her stile has me kinda crushing on her again.

Come With Us

This week’s Music to My Eyes is inspired by last night’s concert at The Hollywood Bowl. I first discovered The Chemical Brothers when a friend from way back in the day found a stack of cds and their album Surrender was probably the only album in the entire mix that I enjoyed. I then went on to buy their fourth album, Come With Us and played it almost everyday for like five months.

If The Hollywood Bowl had a suggestion box, I would’ve suggested they amplify their aisles for acts like these so people, like me, don’t come home with bruised knees from all the non-stop dancing and jumping up and down from breakbeat highs.

Pumped Up Kicks

This song is going to change the world. It’s one of those feel good songs that would make anyone wanna hug their neighbor. Listen and watch the video for great visuals. The only side effects are pure joy and a high possibility of getting it stuck in your head, all day. Don’t hate me.  Perfect song to end your Summer.

Happy Monday,

Irene Lovett

Planning for the Future and Listening To

I’ve decided that when the times comes to re-do our kitchen, I’m going with this herringbone pattern for our floor. I may even go with the black. And if anyone wants to donate all the other materials, call me.

And for Christmas, I’m asking for a closet makeover.

I like to joke around and say I have a walk-in closet because it’s about 2-3 feet deeper than the standard. It’s more of a step-in, stand-in and fantasize about a walk-in kinda closet, but this image here shows promise that I can make mine real cute.

And today I’m going to listen to this song on repeat.

Love you for reading me,

Irene Lovett

I'm Coming for Ya

As I made my way into Lowe’s the other day, a row of picnic tables out front greeted me with, BUY ME. Not as depressing as a puppy store when you feel guilty not taking all of them home, but there they were in the sweltering heat asking to be picked up. I’ll be back for you, I said. You’re all raw and bare in your current state, but I’m taking one of you home and giving you a fun life by painting you (haven’t decided color) and hosting a bbq in your honor. Welcome to the family. Since Summer finally decided to pay us a visit (thanks, you’re more than fashionably late), I’ll be coming up with picnic table settings while everyone else is preparing for Fall.

I Love You.

Here are some inspirational images to get the wheels turning.

Pretty flowers and simple setting.

Move girl, you’re ruining the mood. Just kidding. You can come to my picnic bbq party.

An indoor picnic table – work it. Always a fan of turquoise, and individually seat cushions are a good call.

Smooth and semi-glossy. You’re an option.

Simple flowers in old glass jars/vases. I can do this and so can you.
