I’m so pleased I recently added Style, Thom Filicia‘s book to my ID (Interior Design) library. He made his television debut on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, but I didn’t catch his skills until HGTV’s Dress My Nest. His design aesthetic launched him to be a success in the Interior Design industry and instantly made me a fan.
Style is a step-by-step guide that makes it easy to navigate through the design process. His tips on selecting colors, fabrics and furniture makes this a page-turner and releases the inner decorator in everyone. His philosophy is simple – create rooms that are true to you. Once you’ve discovered what it is you want, he’s there to be your mentor. All the while showcasing his projects with fun, witty remarks explaining his reasoning behind his fabric and material choices. I know he’ll remain an inspirational designer for many years to come and continue to be one of my favorites.
Here are some of my favorite Thom Filicia interiors:
The two-toned sofas are unexpected and create a streamlined effect, making the overall mood of the room stylish and current.
This entry is crisp, clean and gorgeous. Who cares if the mirror is hidden by the flower arrangement.
Perfect execution of the non matchy matchy.
Elegantly casual. Opting for chaise lounges is atypical.
This was the year I was a first-time docent at the Gresytone Mansion Showcase and vividly remember walking through this grand space in complete awe.
